Aslan and Spring

Michael gets very excited about contests, wants his hand in multiple projects, so we weren't surprised to learn that he proposed a dessert contest for BHCA.  After settling on cinnamon rolls, he went for a Narnia cake as a school relevant entry.
Entirely decorated by Michael, who rose early to decorate, after baking the triple layer effort the night before. Gave me a chance to use a German fabricated industrial mold - old hubcaps - finding renewal as cake pans.
Speaking of renewal, these daffodils greeted us upon returning from arctic Rochester, MN and the front path was blanketed with fallen plum blossoms.

Last year, we participated in Lent at All Saints, receiving an ash cross on our foreheads & holy communion on Ash Wednesday - the closest experience I've had of surveying the wondrous cross as a prelude to resurrection; these traditions fall away bereft of supporting context or community.

Coming Home/Valentine's Day

Celebrated Valentine's Day at BHCA with heart-shaped donuts -
a big hit, as was...
later that evening - Peanuts making a comeback? - after eating Chinese and took in a musical based on the TV cartoon, celebrating Feb 14, 2004, Michael's Coming Home Day.

CHD splits the normal birthday celebration into 2 events, birth and family entry coming in stages which, for two boys, is doable schedule-wise. There is also a new awareness over adoption within theological circles, so we're glad to squeeze all the meaning we can out of it.Joseph as adoptive father. Our Lady of Angels Cathedral, Los Angeles.

A Biblical doctrine largely ignored until recently - like the priesthood of all believers until modernity's egalitarian clime - adoption as how the children of God are birthed is gaining traction.
