The First Swiss Birthday

Abigail is opening Michael and Jack's present - a cash register - at her fourth and our first Swiss birthday party. Michael met Abigail at a church service last Sunday, and, well, things kinda picked-up from there. Not sure how typically Swiss it was, but we ate Black Forest cake, played, and her dad grilled a lot of really yummy sausages. Of all things, we ran into Brady and Stephanie and their family, again, at the party! Small world? Small Switzerland.

Anyway, there was this interesting ritual where everyone was handed a balloon, then we went outside to take a group shot, then released the balloons in the air. Saying good-bye to Abigail's previous year? Just getting rid of balloons? Who knows? But it was a fun ritual, when I'm only used to everyone getting more and more out of a birthday, rather than giving up something. Incidentally, I was hopelessly lost, making good use of all the traffic roundabouts, until Abigail's dad came and found us. The Orange cell phones came in handy not a day too soon! The Motorola ring sounds out, "Hello Moto," too, which personalized the settings for me without even trying.
